Andrea Echberg, Global Head of Infrastructure at Pantheon, recently sat down with Infrastructure Investor’s editor-in-chief Bruno Alves on The Infrastructure Investor Podcast.
Andrea discussed the evolution of the infrastructure secondaries market, from a niche strategy to a core allocation for institutional investors, and why investor appetite for the asset class continues to grow. She also shared her perspective on what she calls “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of continuation vehicles, and how pricing, fundraising, and competition are shaping the market as higher interest rates and liquidity constraints affect deal activity.
The conversation ranged across the long-term themes driving opportunity in the space, including digital infrastructure and the energy transition, non-GP sources of secondaries deal flow, and what the next phase of growth could look like as the market becomes increasingly institutionalized.
Pantheon has been a pioneer in infrastructure secondaries since 2010, and currently has $27.4bn in infrastructure AUM.
